Scheduling Your Exam Appointment
Before scheduling your exam appointment, you must first register for the CAIA exam. Once registered, please wait 30 minutes before scheduling your appointment through Prometric, where you’ll choose from available testing centers, dates, and times using your CAIA ID Number as the Eligibility Number.
Appointment availability is limited and varies by location on a first-come, first-served basis. While we strive to accommodate all Candidates, CAIA cannot guarantee the availability of appointments. We encourage you to schedule as early as possible to secure your preferred time and location. To find a Prometric test center near you, select "Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association" during your search. Please note: If a testing accommodation was requested, please do not schedule your exam appointment until your request has been processed. Need to Reschedule Your Exam?
Candidates may change their CAIA exam appointment date, location, or scheduled start time within the same testing window. Exam registration is not open-ended. By registering for an exam, you are committing to a specific exam session, and you may not postpone from one testing period to another.
- Candidates may reschedule at no cost 30 days or more in advance of their scheduled exam date.
- A US$50 scheduling change fee is applied for changes made between 29 to 5 days in advance of the scheduled exam.
- No reschedule changes are permitted less than 5 days in advance of the scheduled appointment.
To reschedule your exam appointment, please be sure to do so directly through Prometric by clicking the Reschedule/Cancel button under Test Center Exam. All rescheduling must be handled through Prometric to ensure your appointment is properly updated.

What Happens if Prometric Reschedules or Cancels Your Exam Appointment?
An exam being rescheduled or cancelled by our test provider is not common, but does occur for a few reasons, including weather events and local situations. If possible, you will be rescheduled to the same location and exam window for a different date. If there are no open appointments at that location, you will be rescheduled within a 50-mile radius of your originally selected center. Prometric will send you an appointment confirmation email with your new exam details.
If there is no test center within a 50-mile radius, you will receive an email from Prometric regarding the exam appointment cancellation and will need to contact candidate@caia.org for more options.
